Hi Everyone
This is a first for a while, but following lots of requests from members, we have set up two workshops for HDSA members only and booking is now open for both. See the details below!
Sarah Miles – Your Subject – Charcoal & Watercolour Process – Friday 8 August 2025 – Price £33.00
Sarah Miles came to see us earlier in the year with her Textures in Watercolour Puffin/Sea Scape and we had great feedback on how you all enjoyed seeing the texture techniques. Sarah is now offering this slightly different class – working with charcoal to outline your design, then fixing the charcoal and then going back into the work with watercolours to add colour and texture. See an example ‘Tigers’ from a recent workshop below. You will need to bring paper, brush, waterpot, charcoal and watercolours but HDSA and Sarah will bring some materials to support the workshop if required.
The Workshop will run from 10am to 4pm at Burbage Congregational Church Hall with tea/coffee & cake included, please bring your own lunchbox and Sarah will take us through all of the process to complete a picture for the end of the workshop.
Please book by emailing me on [email protected] to secure your place as these will be limited to 10.
We will require payment at the point of booking. Please note places once booked are non-refundable if you cancel and we cannot rebook your place, that said, we will let people know there is a cancellation to help with re-booking as much as possible. In the unlikely event the workshop has to be cancelled by HDSA, then you will receive a full refund.

DJ – ‘Woodland Light’ – Acrylic – Monday 20 October 2025 £30.00
DJ came to see us in Jan 2024 and was very engaging with the audience and a great demonstration of his northern lights picture in acrylics. He is now offering a Woodland Light workshop where we create a picture like the example below as a class – picking up on light and shadows required for this woodland scene. You will need to bring paper suitable for acrylics or an acrylic board or canvas, brush, waterpot and acrylics.
The Workshop will run from 10am to 4pm at Burbage Congregational Church Hall with tea/coffee & cake included, please bring your own lunchbox and DJ will take us through all of the process to complete a picture for the end of the workshop.
Please book by emailing me on [email protected] to secure your place as these will be limited to 12, (although we can extend to 20 if demand is good, which will reduce the price for everyone.)
