About Jay: I am a local artist, member of Ashby Art Club and have lived in Ashby De La Zouch for over thirty years, I paint mainly in acrylic but I keep an open mind and am always ready for a new challenge and a new medium. I paint in a contemporary style but I believe that realism still has a place in today’s art. My subject matter is whatever interests me; I enjoy painting portrait, landscape or still life.

Why ‘Jay Dubya’ ? Exhibiting at a gallery with two other ‘John Smith’s’ led to some confusion! Jay Dubya is a play on my Christian name’s initials John William…J.W…Jay Dubya

19th August DYOT Members Only:

23rd August: Art Exhibition Setup / Cheese & Wine Night

A new event Members only + 1, let the secretary know you are coming, colour of wine or soft drink requirements for the evening cheese & wine night and exhibition reveal.

9th September: Demonstration – Helen Tarr, Floral Still Life in Acrylic or Oils

This event is free to members but if you would like to come see the demonstration non-members can enter on the night for just £5 so come and see what we do and get involved.

Helen was an urban landscape painter for 20 years and now concentrates on the rural flora. She says her paintings reflect the restorative benefits of mindful contemplation both in and of the natural world but they also carry a reminder of its, and our own, fragility
